AION UT launches in UK: 268-mile range, five-star Euro NCAP rating, more models to follow

GAC Aion has launched the AION UT in the UK, making it the brand's second model in the market after the AION V.

AION UK general manager Jon Wakefield said GAC brings 29 years of vehicle-building experience and has produced more than 30 million vehicles worldwide.

The company suggested that the AION UT is just the beginning of the brand's UK plans, with more new models due to follow next year.

The AION UT uses a 60 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery and has a claimed WLTP range of 268 miles, putting it among the stronger performers in its class in the UK.

DC charging from 30% to 80% takes 24 minutes, while 0–62 mph takes 7.3 seconds.

The car also has a 2,750 mm wheelbase and a 440-litre boot. Folding the rear seats increases luggage space to 1,600 litres, while the cabin has 24 separate storage compartments.

The compact electric hatchback comes well equipped across the range, with a 14.6-inch central touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 360-degree camera, dual-zone voice control and a six-speaker sound system.

Safety is another key part of the package. The car has received a five-star Euro NCAP rating under the latest test standards and comes with seven airbags, including a far-side airbag.

Like the AION V, the AION UT comes with AION's "Great 8" ownership package.

It includes eight years or 100,000 miles of vehicle warranty, eight years or 125,000 miles of battery cover, eight years of servicing, eight years of roadside assistance and eight years of MOT coverage.

The benefits can also be transferred with the car and are available across AION's UK sales network.

The UK support network is already up and running.

Roadside assistance is provided by the AA, with mobile technicians and a dedicated local customer service centre. DHL handles parts warehousing and distribution. Home charger installation is also available through the network.

AION already has a West London flagship store, along with a growing number of sales and service locations in the UK.
