Xiaomi launches SkyNomad REEV SUV series as cumulative deliveries surpass 800,000 units

Xiaomi Auto has launched its new SkyNomad range-extender SUVs at its autumn product launch event on 7 September, introducing four models: the N70 Pro, N70 Max, N90 Max and N90 Max Exploration Edition.

The N70 range starts from RMB 209,900 (~HK$229,000). The first 10,000 orders were placed within just four minutes of sales opening.

At the same event, Xiaomi founder, chairman and CEO Lei Jun announced that the company's cumulative vehicle deliveries had passed 800,000 units, reaching the milestone in just 29 months and setting what Xiaomi describes as the fastest pace among China's new EV start-ups.

Four models, one new range

SkyNomad is Xiaomi Auto's second product line after the SU7 and YU7, with the new range aimed at buyers looking for larger family SUVs.

The four models are positioned as follows:

• N70 Pro: Five-seat range-extender SUV, from RMB 209,900 (~HK$229,000)
• N70 Max: Five-seat AWD range-extender SUV, from RMB 239,900 (~HK$261,000)
• N90 Max: Seven-seat flagship range-extender SUV, from RMB 269,900 (~HK$294,000)
• N90 Max Exploration Edition: Based on the N90 Max, with an electrically deployable roof tent, from RMB 299,900 (~HK$327,000)

All four models use double wishbones at the front and multi-link independent suspension at the rear, along with a high-speed tyre blowout stability control system.

Power comes from Xiaomi's 1.5T Kunlun range extender, while LiDAR and an intelligent driver-assistance system are standard across the range.

Safety equipment includes Xiaomi's 2,200MPa ultra-high-strength steel, an integrated roll cage and one-piece hot-formed door rings, with protection provided across all seating positions.

The N90 Max Exploration Edition adds an electrically powered roof tent that raises at the press of a button, turning the cabin into a two-level loft-style space.

The upper section measures 2,110 x 985mm and can support up to 200kg. It comes with insect screens, lighting, air-conditioning vents and charging ports. When closed, the roof can clear standard urban basement car parks, allowing the SUV to double as a camping setup.

Xiaomi Auto passes 800,000 deliveries

Lei Jun said Xiaomi Auto reached the 800,000-unit cumulative delivery milestone 29 months after the first customer deliveries began in April 2024.

According to Xiaomi, that is the fastest any Chinese new-energy vehicle start-up has reached 800,000 deliveries.

Xiaomi Auto has yet to officially enter the Hong Kong market. The SkyNomad range is aimed at the large-SUV segment, with its seven-seat models potentially appealing to Hong Kong families who need more passenger space.

There is still no word on whether Xiaomi plans to offer the range in right-hand-drive markets, including Hong Kong. That will be worth watching as the brand expands beyond China.
