MG 07 PHEV to launch at Chengdu Motor Show on 21 August with 245 km electric range

SAIC MG has confirmed that the new MG 07 hybrid will launch on 21 August at the Chengdu Motor Show, adding two new plug-in hybrid variants to the lineup.

The two versions are the 245 Comfort Edition and 245 LiDAR Edition. Both come with SAIC Motor's DMH hybrid system, a CATL battery and Momenta R7 driver assistance system, along with a range of other technology and comfort features.

The MG 07 hybrid uses SAIC's DMH hybrid system, combining a 1.5-litre hybrid-specific engine with a new-generation 10-in-1 hybrid transmission and a permanent-magnet synchronous motor.

The system produces enough power to take the car from 0-100 km/h in 7.5 seconds.

The hybrid version gets a 30 kWh CATL battery and supports 3C fast charging. Charging from 30% to 80% takes 15 minutes. The CLTC electric-only range is rated at 245km. Combined range is claimed to exceed 1,745 km.

A 6.6 kW VTOL external power supply is standard across the range, allowing the car to power equipment for camping and other outdoor activities.

In terms of smart features and cabin comfort, the MG 07 hybrid gets an AI predictive mCDC intelligent electromagnetic suspension system, along with a 7.1.4-channel audio system with 21 speakers, including overhead speakers.

For driver assistance, the car uses Momenta's R7 system and supports NOA navigation-assisted driving on motorways and in urban areas. The hardware includes the Xheart X7 high-end driving assistance chip, LiDAR, 4D millimetre-wave radar and multiple exterior cameras.

Inside, the MG 07 hybrid runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8295P cockpit chip with 5G connectivity. Other equipment includes 19-inch wheels, a five-stage adjustable electric rear spoiler and coloured metal brake calliper covers.

As for pricing, industry estimates suggest the new hybrid versions could be priced around RMB 7,000–8,000 lower than comparable pure-electric versions, based on the local pricing of the MG 07 EV and the price gap between similar EV and hybrid models.

Final pricing will be announced when the MG 07 hybrid officially launches on 21 August.
