Fuel Sentiment Amidst the Electrification Wave | New Vision BMW ALPINA Concept Car Debuts, Continuing the V8 Classic Legend

The legendary brand ALPINA, officially acquired by BMW, presents a new masterpiece — the Vision BMW ALPINA Concept Car. This new model not only marks ALPINA's entry into a new phase of development but also declares to global car enthusiasts that the roaring V8 engine sound and the ultimate luxury long-distance cruising experience remain the core soul of this top-tier craftsmanship brand.

Looking back at the brand's history, ALPINA originally specialized in modifying BMW models and achieved great success in various endurance races before evolving into a legendary manufacturer with independent vehicle production capabilities. The brand has always been renowned for its high performance, exceptional comfort, and understated exterior styling, earning the deep affection of seasoned car enthusiasts worldwide. In March 2022, the BMW Group officially acquired the ALPINA trademark, incorporating this classic gold brand into its top-tier luxury product line. The Vision BMW ALPINA Concept Car unveiled this time is the first heavyweight work resulting from the integration of both parties' collaboration.

In terms of exterior design, this large two-door coupe, with a body length exceeding five meters, exudes a low-key luxury and elegant, composed noble temperament. BMW Design Director Maximilian Missoni skillfully reinterpreted ALPINA's classic design elements. The front end features a reverse-slant shark-nose design paying homage to the classic BMW 635CSi, boasting high recognizability. The iconic double kidney grille has been redesigned with a floating panel, abandoning traditional chrome trim in favor of LED light strips outlining the contour. Whether powered by an internal combustion engine or electric powertrain in the future, its pure BMW heritage remains instantly recognizable.

Every detail of the vehicle showcases craftsmanship. The front spoiler features a low-key engraved ALPINA inscription. The signature body side pinstripes, used since 1974 as a brand hallmark, have become even more exquisite and refined on this new model. While previous pinstripes were mostly applied via sticker craft, the new-generation ALPINA has upgraded to full hand-painting, significantly enhancing the luxurious texture. Meanwhile, the iconic 20-spoke wheels have been re-optimized; each spoke incorporates a chain-link texture consistent with the body pinstripes. The same hidden pattern also adorns the interior of the kidney grille, door sills, and other locations, serving as exclusive detail easter eggs for the owners.

The cabin interior also embodies top-tier craftsmanship, featuring high-quality leather paired with exquisite stitching, accented with the brand's exclusive blue and green theme colors to create a cockpit overflowing with a premium atmosphere. The newly designed steering wheel logo adopts a fresh font and abandons the previously eye-catching blue and red dual-color scheme in favor of a low-key single-color design. Brand Vice President Oliver Viellechner stated that this design choice was made to complement the elegant and minimalist interior style, avoiding visual abruptness.

The logo placement also has a clear positioning. The new single-color ALPINA logo is exclusively used on the steering wheel and wheel center caps, while the front and rear retain BMW's classic blue and white roundel. The rear features a gradient-spread ALPINA inscription, doubly highlighting the brand's identity.

In terms of product positioning and performance philosophy, this concept car redefines ALPINA's new-generation style — focusing on effortless speed rather than extreme competitive performance. The new car retains top-tier driving performance while softening the aggressive handling tuning, prioritizing comfort and stability for long-distance driving, ensuring that even extended high-speed cruising remains fatigue-free.

What surprises car enthusiasts the most is that the Vision BMW ALPINA is explicitly equipped with a V8 internal combustion engine, sticking to the large-displacement fuel powertrain route. Within the new brand logo, patterns representing the brand's original intent — the carburetor and crankshaft — are retained. This is sufficient proof that in the era of electrification, ALPINA remains committed to the classic charm of traditional internal combustion engines, preserving the rare passion and warmth for the fuel vehicle market.
