Changan Auto has announced that the fourth-generation Yidong and CS75PLUS, both powered by the new Blue Whale Super Hybrid system, will be launched and begin global deliveries on May 23. With real-world city fuel consumption as low as 1.6L/100km for the Yidong and 2.3L/100km for the CS75PLUS, the two models target the 70,000–130,000 RMB mainstream family car segment without requiring external charging.

Yidong Blue Whale Super Hybrid: A 70,000 RMB-Class Hybrid Sedan Benchmark

The fourth-generation Yidong measures 4,785 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width and 1,460 mm in height, with a 2,765 mm wheelbase. Standard equipment includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.6-inch floating centre display, and the Tianshu smart cockpit powered by a DeepSeek + Tongyi Qianwen dual large language model. The AI voice assistant supports full-scene interaction. Additional features include 50W wireless fast charging, an 8-speaker audio system, 256-colour ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, a 540° camera, AEB, FCW, and six airbags.

CS75PLUS Blue Whale Super Hybrid: Sub-110,000 RMB Entry for a Hybrid SUV

The CS75PLUS measures 4,770 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width and 1,705 mm in height, with a 2,800 mm wheelbase. All variants feature a 37-inch integrated floating triple-screen setup with the same dual-LLM AI system as the Yidong. The CS75PLUS also debuts the segment’s only CDC adaptive damping suspension, adjustable for softness or firmness via OTA updates. Standard Tianshu Vision ADAS includes lane centring, adaptive cruise and collision warning, alongside a 540° camera, six airbags and a high-strength Fangzhou safety body.

Blue Whale Super Hybrid: No Plug-In Required

The system combines a 1.5L/1.5T hybrid engine (44.28% thermal efficiency, 500Bar direct injection), a 180kW high-torque e-motor (20,000 rpm), a 1.7 kWh safety battery (50C discharge, 80 kW peak) and AI cloud control. The single-speed DHT eliminates gear shifts and turbo lag. The e-motor delivers 0.29–0.3 second throttle response, with 0–60 km/h times of 3.59 seconds (Yidong) and 3.85 seconds (CS75PLUS). Real-world city fuel consumption is 1.6L/100km (Yidong) and 2.3L/100km (CS75PLUS), with combined cycle figures of 2.98L/100km and 3.98L/100km respectively. Compared to conventional petrol models, annual fuel savings reach approximately 3,882 RMB.

Pricing and Delivery

The Yidong is offered in three variants with pre-order prices ranging from 79,900 RMB to 94,900 RMB. The CS75PLUS lineup includes four variants: the True Value Edition at a fixed 109,900 RMB, with pre-order pricing from 116,900 RMB to 134,900 RMB. Both models will be delivered nationwide from May 23.

Outlook for Hong Kong

No right-hand-drive version or Hong Kong homologation plans have been announced for the Yidong or CS75PLUS Blue Whale Super Hybrid. If they are introduced under the “One-for-One Replacement” EV tax scheme, their approximate RMB 79,900 starting price would translate to roughly HK$88,000–160,000, competing with the Toyota Corolla Cross and Nissan Note. Buyers should monitor further announcements from Changan Hong Kong.
