Hyper S600 Pre-Sale Set for May 17 – 370 kW AWD, LiDAR Standard, Starting Under 300,000 RMB

Guangzhou Hyper has announced that its all-new “New Luxury Smart Sport SUV,” the Hyper S600, will officially open for pre-sale on May 17. The vehicle made its global debut earlier this year at the April Beijing Auto Show, where pre-order customers were offered over 5,000 RMB in exclusive benefits. Built as the first production model under Hyper’s brand renewal strategy, the S600 is positioned in the sub-300,000 RMB sport SUV segment, offering both all-electric and extended-range powertrains with laser radar and dual-chamber air suspension as standard.

Powertrain: 370 kW AWD EV or EREV with Over 1,000 km Combined Range

The S600 offers two distinct powertrain solutions. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive EV variant produces a combined 370 kW and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. Battery options include an 83.3 kWh LFP pack (660 km CLTC range) or a 99.5 kWh NMC pack (800 km CLTC range), with 800V ultra-fast charging capability. The EREV variant features GAC’s Xingyuan range-extender technology, delivering over 1,000 km of total range, a 170–180 km all-electric range, and a fuel-to-electricity conversion rate of 3.73 kWh per litre.

Chassis: Dual-Chamber Air Suspension as Standard

The S600 comes with a front double-wishbone, rear five-link independent suspension configuration as standard, along with SDC variable-damping shock absorbers. The dual-chamber air suspension system – typically found in vehicles priced above 400,000 RMB – is also standard across all variants. The suspension system is tuned by the team behind the Hyper SSR supercar, providing handling stability and ride comfort rarely seen in the sub-300,000 RMB price bracket.

Smart Cockpit: Tri-Screen Display with 8295P Chip

The interior adopts a starry-sky wrap-around design concept. The front door panels feature a translucent star-sky finish, with 838 ambient lights forming a star-lit matrix. A 17.3-inch central touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 27-inch W-HUD are standard, enabling tri-screen connectivity. The cabin uses Nappa leather seats with ventilation, heating and massage functions, along with a 6.5-litre centre-console refrigerator and a 38 dB cabin achieved through five-layer double-glazed acoustic glass.

Autonomous Driving: Full-Spec LiDAR with Momenta R6 Model

The S600 is equipped with GAC’s ADiGO GSD LiDAR-based autonomous driving system, integrated with the Momenta R6 reinforcement learning model. A standard LiDAR sensor, three millimetre-wave radar units, 11 high-definition cameras and 12 ultrasonic sensors together provide full-scenario ADAS capability, including urban NOA, highway pilot and intelligent parking. The ADAS system is powered by a Qualcomm SA8650 AI chip, with a separate Snapdragon 8295P chip driving the smart cockpit.

Market Positioning: A Critical Launch for Hyper’s Brand Revival

Hyper’s existing models – the GT and HT – have struggled to gain traction in the 200,000–300,000 RMB segment, with monthly sales remaining modest. The S600 represents a decisive reset. By offering a full-spec LiDAR system, dual-chamber air suspension, 8295P chip, 17.3-inch screen and 27-inch W-HUD on every single variant – eliminating the need for option packs – Hyper aims to reset buyer expectations for what a sub-300,000 RMB electric SUV should deliver. With direct rivals including the Xiaomi YU7 and IM LS6, the S600‘s success will depend on whether its hardware advantages can overcome Hyper’s relatively weak brand recognition in the premium segment.

Outlook for the Hong Kong Market

If the S600 is officially imported to Hong Kong and qualifies for the “One-for-One Replacement” EV First Registration Tax scheme, its expected sub-300,000 RMB pricing would translate to approximately HK$330,000–350,000 on the road. This would position it directly against the Tesla Model Y, XPeng G6 and Zeekr 001 in Hong Kong’s mid-sized EV SUV segment. The S600’s advantages include a longer wheelbase, superior EV range, standard dual-chamber air suspension and full-spec LiDAR ADAS. However, Hyper Hong Kong has not yet announced any import timeline, right-hand-drive development progress or distributor plans. The S600 is expected to begin deliveries in mainland China in late 2026, with Hong Kong market availability remaining uncertain.
