AITO M8 Achieves Five-Star Fire Safety Rating, Secures Industry-First C-EVFI 2026 Certification

The AITO M8 Max+ pure electric long-range five-seat variant has successfully passed the China Electric Vehicle Fire Safety Index 2026 tests, earning a five-star rating and becoming the first production vehicle to receive this certification (No. 001).

The index is developed by China Merchants Testing Vehicle Technology Research Institute, in collaboration with major industry bodies, and focuses specifically on fire safety risks in EVs — addressing anxieties about fires and passenger escape.

The 2026 version covers 16 primary indicators, 43 secondary indicators and 125 test items across five core performance dimensions: material flame retardancy, charging safety, underbody protection, thermal runaway protection and vehicle sealing.

The AITO M8’s success comes from its multi-layered safety approach. The body adopts a rigid structure with over 81% aluminium, high-strength steel and hot-formed steel. The battery pack is protected by a five-layer cell coating and a five-layer underbody shield, defending against impacts, punctures and thermal runaway.

Industry observers note the M8 has set a new benchmark for fire safety in premium EVs. True luxury in the EV era is no longer just comfort or technology, but demonstrated ability to prevent fire, control heat and ensure passengers have time to escape in an emergency.
