Geely Auto has signed an exclusive import and distribution agreement with AutoWallis, one of Central and Eastern Europe's leading mobility service providers, officially entering the Austrian market. The Geely E5 (an electric SUV) and the STARRAY EM-i (a plug-in hybrid SUV) will be launched in the second quarter of 2026.

Geely E5

The Geely E5 is a global strategic model with a front-mounted single electric motor delivering 160 kW (218 hp) and 320 N·m of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds. CLTC range reaches 610 km, battery technology supports DC fast charging, and V2L discharge allows use of camping appliances. It has achieved a top Euro NCAP five-star safety rating.

STARRAY EM-i

The STARRAY EM-i PHEV SUV partners a 1.5-litre engine with a 160 kW electric motor, delivering 193 kW combined system output. An 18.4 kWh battery offers around 83 km of electric range, while combined range exceeds 1,420 km. Fuel consumption in low‑battery mode is just 3.75 L/100 km, surpassing rivals such as the Toyota RAV4 PHEV and Nissan Qashqai e‑Power in both efficiency and range.

Strategic Significance

Geely recorded over 203,000 units of vehicle exports in the first quarter of 2026, with Europe serving as a strategically vital market. The group has set a 2026 export goal of 640,000 to 750,000 units. Supported by multiple European R&D and design centres in Frankfurt, Coventry and Milan, Geely has built a system capable of delivering models tailored to European roads and lifestyles.

For Hong Kong car enthusiasts, even though right‑hand drive availability has not yet been confirmed, Geely's aggressive expansion across Europe is well worth watching, and news of its potential entry into the domestic market at a later date could be just around the corner.
