In a significant move to consolidate its position in the competitive premium electric vehicle segment, AITO, under the Huawei-backed Harmony Intelligence (Hongmeng Zhixing) alliance, officially unveiled its latest model, the M6, on April 22nd. The launch event, part of the Harmony Intelligence Spring New Product Conference, marked the arrival of a sophisticated, technology-laden mid-to-large-size SUV designed to cater to the evolving demands of modern families and tech-savvy drivers. The AITO M6 arrives with a compelling price tag ranging from 259,800 to 299,800 RMB, accompanied by launch incentives offering potential savings of up to 56,000 RMB for early depositors.

The AITO M6 debuts in four distinct variants, clearly segmenting the market between its extended-range (EREV) and pure electric (BEV) offerings. The lineup starts with the Extended-Range Max+ at 259,800 RMB, followed by the Extended-Range Ultra at 279,800 RMB. On the pure electric side, the Pure Electric Max+ Long Range also sits at 279,800 RMB, while the flagship Pure Electric Ultra tops the range at 299,800 RMB. This pricing strategy positions the M6 as a direct contender in a hotly contested space, promising a blend of luxury, space, and cutting-edge technology at a relatively accessible entry point for its category.

Design-wise, the M6 adheres to the evolving AITO family design language but refines it with a focus on aerodynamic efficiency and modern aesthetics. The front fascia is dominated by a clean, closed-off grille, emphasizing its electric vehicle roots. The headlights, described as "resplendent," feature a intricate stellar-inspired design that carries through to the rear, creating a cohesive visual identity. A distinctive blue auxiliary driving light is integrated, hinting at the vehicle's advanced driver-assistance capabilities. The hood features two prominent character lines, adding a sense of muscularity and strength to its stance. Perhaps the most significant exterior feature, however, is standard across all trims: a state-of-the-art 896-line dual-light-path imaging-grade LiDAR. Hailed as the highest-specification mass-production automotive LiDAR globally, its innovative dual-path architecture combines wide-angle and telephoto functions for a "high-definition picture-in-picture" effect, promising unparalleled clarity, accuracy, and long-range detection for its autonomous driving systems.

The side profile continues the theme of clean, flowing lines, contributing to an exceptionally low drag coefficient of just 0.239. Semi-concealed door handles and dynamic five-spoke alloy wheels housing red brake calipers add a touch of sportiness. The M6's dimensions are substantial, measuring 4960mm in length, 1985mm in width, and 1736mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2950mm. This footprint ensures a commanding road presence and, crucially, ample interior space for its five-seat configuration. At the rear, the taillights mirror the stellar theme of the headlights, and the illuminated "AITO" logo is seamlessly integrated into the light bar, enhancing brand recognition, especially after dark.

Stepping inside, the M6 presents a cabin that prioritizes digital immersion and a youthful, fashionable ambiance. A striking new two-tone interior, primarily purple accented with white, sets it apart from more conventional color schemes. The dashboard is a symphony of screens. A slender, full-width digital instrument cluster sits ahead of the driver, complemented by a flat-bottomed multi-function steering wheel. The centerpiece is a large, centrally mounted touchscreen that can swivel left and right for optimal viewing angle for both driver and passenger. Notably, the front passenger is treated to their own dedicated entertainment display, dubbed the "Co-pilot Inspiration Window," a narrow-bezel screen seamlessly integrated into the dashboard. Other interior highlights include sporty one-piece seats, dual wireless charging panels, a panoramic sunroof, a premium "Sky Sound" audio system, and a Head-Up Display (HUD), all contributing to a high-tech and comfortable environment.

The powertrain strategy is a core strength of the M6, offering buyers the flexibility to choose based on their usage patterns and charging accessibility. The extended-range variant (EREV) combines a 1.5-liter range-extender engine with a dual-motor electric setup. It boasts an impressive pure-electric driving range of 355 km (CLTC likely), effectively covering daily commutes without using a drop of fuel. When the battery depletes, the gasoline engine acts as a generator, enabling a massive total comprehensive range of up to 1605 km, effectively eliminating range anxiety for long journeys. For those committed to pure electric mobility, the BEV models are equipped with a sizable 97.644 kWh battery pack. Depending on the configuration, they offer a range of choices: 665 km, 705 km, 715 km, or up to 760 km on a single charge (all figures likely based on the CLTC cycle), catering to a wide spectrum of range requirements.

The launch of the AITO M6 represents a strategic expansion for the Harmony Intelligence ecosystem. By offering both EREV and BEV options on the same modern platform, AITO casts a wide net. It appeals to pragmatic buyers who value the security of an onboard generator, as well as early adopters who prefer a fully electric experience. Its standard equipment, particularly the flagship-grade LiDAR, signals a strong emphasis on achieving high-level advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), likely leveraging Huawei's expertise in sensors and computing. The interior's focus on multiple interactive screens and connected features further underscores its identity as a "smart device on wheels."

Positioned in the fiercely competitive 250,000-300,000 RMB SUV market in China, the AITO M6 faces rivals from established domestic EV makers like NIO, Li Auto, and Xpeng, as well as traditional luxury brands. Its success will hinge on the perceived value of its Harmony OS-powered infotainment, the real-world performance of its autonomous driving features enabled by the sophisticated LiDAR, and the overall refinement and quality of the driving experience. The attractive launch incentives are a clear bid to generate strong initial order momentum. If AITO can deliver on the promise of seamless technology, spacious comfort, and versatile powertrains, the M6 is poised to become a formidable player, accelerating the brand's journey towards the mainstream of China's intelligent electric vehicle landscape.

With immediate order books now open, the automotive market will be watching closely to see if the AITO M6's blend of space, tech, and dual-energy strategy resonates with consumers. Its arrival further intensifies the innovation race in the world's largest EV market, pushing boundaries on what consumers can expect in terms of standard technology and powertrain flexibility in a premium family SUV.
