BYD Sealion 05 Launches from RMB 97,900

BYD has officially launched the new Sealion 05, with eight variants priced from RMB 97,900 to 145,900. As a model-year update, the Sealion 05 features powertrain upgrades.

Exterior: Ocean Aesthetics with New Colours

The Sealion 05 retains BYD‘s “Ocean Aesthetics” design with a closed grille, full-width LED DRLs, and a slightly revised rear light bar. Two new colours — Aurora Blue and Coral Pink — are added. Dimensions: 4,710/1,880/1,680 mm, wheelbase 2,712 mm.

Powertrain: EV and DM Options

EV version (e‑platform 3.0): 49.9 kWh battery (430 km CLTC) or 60.5 kWh battery (520 km CLTC). Motor output: 150 kW, 0‑50 km/h in 3.9 seconds. DC fast charging (30‑80% in 30 minutes).

DM‑i version (DM5.0): 1.5L engine (74 kW) + 120 kW motor. Battery options: 8.3 kWh (55 km NEDC) or 18.3 kWh (115 km NEDC). Combined range over 1,200 km, fuel consumption 4.2 L/100 km. V2L discharge (3.3 kW) is standard.

Interior & Features

Rotating 12.8‑inch (or 15.6‑inch) screen with DiLink 5.0, 8.8‑inch digital cluster, 5G, voice control, OTA. Sport seats with heating (front), wireless charging, and ambient lighting are included.

ADAS: DiPilot L2

Standard DiPilot L2 includes adaptive cruise, lane centring, AEB, blind‑spot monitoring. Higher trims add 360° camera and auto parking.

The new Sealion 05 offers strong value in the RMB 100,000‑150,000 EV/PHEV SUV segment. While not yet available in Hong Kong, it may be introduced in right‑hand drive in the future.
