In a significant move to capture the burgeoning budget-conscious yet tech-savvy electric vehicle segment, GAC Aion officially opened pre-sales for its highly anticipated N60 model on April 16th. Positioned as a feature-packed urban electric vehicle, the N60 arrives with a compelling pre-sale price range of 115,800 to 135,800 yuan (approximately $16,000 - $18,800 USD), immediately challenging established rivals in the compact EV space. The launch signals Aion's aggressive strategy to democratize advanced automotive technology, packing what the brand calls "six limited-time pre-sale benefits" to entice early adopters.

The Aion N60 is not merely another entry in the crowded EV ledger; it is a statement of intent. Penned by Ye Binghuan, a designer credited with million-dollar hypercars, the N60's philosophy centers on "simplicity, efficiency, practicality, and fun"—a mantra aimed squarely at the discerning young urban consumer. Its exterior is defined by a clean, modern aesthetic, highlighted by the signature "Quantum Star Ring" lighting elements at the front and rear, which create a distinctive and cohesive visual identity. The cabin prioritizes space and openness, featuring a massive 2.38-square-meter panoramic glass roof with an electric sunshade, contributing to a total cabin glazing area of 4.2 square meters. Dominating the dashboard is a expansive 15.6-inch 2.5K high-resolution central display, serving as the command center for the vehicle's digital experience.

Personalization is a key theme, with the N60 offering a palette of seven exterior colors: Star Ring Silver, Gentle Gold, Clear Sky Blue, Polar White, Night Shadow Black, Cloudscape Grey, and Sea Glow Grey. Inside, buyers can choose from three curated interior themes: Soft Light Dance White, Caramel Warm Velvet, and Morning Mist Cool Grey, allowing owners to tailor the ambiance to their taste.

Where the Aion N60 truly aims to disrupt the segment is in its staggering list of standard technological features, a rarity in its price bracket. The headline act is its comprehensive advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS). The N60 comes standard with a full-scene high-level intelligent driving suite, leveraging an end-to-end AI model with shared lineage from WeRide's L4 autonomous driving technology. This sophisticated system is underpinned by a sensor suite that includes a standard 4D millimeter-wave radar and, notably, a standard LiDAR sensor. This combination promises robust perception capabilities in various weather and lighting conditions.

The intelligent driving capabilities extend to parking. The N60 boasts a full-scene smart parking system, which includes a segment-exclusive remote parking function (to be enabled via OTA update). This feature allows the vehicle to park itself in a detected spot after the occupants have exited, addressing a common pain point in tight urban environments with the simple promise: "If there's a space, it can park."

Comfort and convenience receive equal emphasis. In a move that redefines expectations for a passenger seat, the Aion N60 features a standard co-pilot zero-gravity seat. The front seats are also standard-equipped with heating, ventilation, massage, and memory functions. Rear-seat passengers are not forgotten, with second-row seatbacks offering stepless adjustability between 117 and 137 degrees. Practicality is further enhanced by a near-90-degree rear door opening angle and a low 410mm step-in height, designed to facilitate easy access for all passengers, including pets.

The technological infusion continues inside with the ADiGO 6.0 intelligent cockpit. This system integrates an AI voice assistant powered by a large language model, Huawei's Star Cloud application space, and customizable multi-scenario modes. The aim is to create an interactive, intuitive, and entertaining environment that transforms every journey, making the cabin a seamless extension of the user's digital life.

Underpinning the N60's tech-laden body is GAC Aion's latest and most critical safety innovation: the Blade Battery 2.0. This battery technology has been subjected to extreme validation tests, including gunshot and nail penetration, and boasts a track record of zero spontaneous combustion across 50 billion kilometers driven by Aion vehicle owners—a claim designed squarely to alleviate prevalent consumer anxiety around EV battery safety. On the efficiency front, the N60 offers a maximum CLTC range of 610 kilometers on a single charge. It utilizes the world's first amorphous alloy silicon carbide electric drive, which contributes to an exceptionally low energy consumption of just 11.7 kWh per 100 kilometers. GAC Aion translates this efficiency into a relatable metric for consumers: "one kilowatt-hour of electricity delivers over one extra kilometer of range," promoting a lifestyle of "one charge per week" without range anxiety.

The launch of the Aion N60 represents a pivotal moment for GAC Aion and the broader Chinese EV market. By offering LiDAR, high-level ADAS, a zero-gravity seat, and a premium infotainment system as standard across a three-variant lineup starting under 120,000 yuan, Aion is executing a powerful value-for-money offensive. It effectively raises the bar for what consumers can expect from an affordable electric vehicle, forcing competitors to re-evaluate their own standard equipment lists. The N60 is more than a car; it is a curated package of mobility, technology, and comfort, strategically priced to accelerate EV adoption among a generation that prioritizes digital integration, safety, and smart features without compromising on style or practicality. Its market performance will be a crucial indicator of whether the industry's high-tech arms race can be successfully brought to the mass-market arena.
