The mechanical specifications of the 5-door Jimny XL and the 3-door version are identical – both share the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine, 4AT gearbox, and All-Grip Pro 4WD system. The key difference is the 340mm longer wheelbase, giving the 5-door a genuinely usable rear seat (the 3-door's rear seats are only suitable for short trips) and much more cargo space. Downsides include slightly reduced performance due to the heavier body, and the rear seats do not fold completely flat.
