On the evening of August 26, Chery Fengyun T7 launched domestically. Priced from 97,900 to 118,900 RMB, with trade-ins starting as low as 94,900 RMB, it compresses a whole vehicle capability validated by E-NCAP standards and over a million kilometers globally into the 100,000 RMB range, breaking the ingrained perception that 'Global Standards = High Prices'. This also provides a noteworthy sample for the automotive industry. A native global pure electric SUV that first completes overseas market validation before returning to the local market means that Chinese car exports have crossed the simple product output stage and entered the Systematic Globalization 2.0 era.
In the past, many products' so-called globalization mainly involved completing development domestically and then making minor adaptations for overseas markets, with the core R&D logic still anchored to the local market. Fengyun T7, however, represents a completely different product logic. From the start of the project, it considered regulations of multiple countries, climatic environments of different regions, physical differences across races, and global user aesthetics. It executed a complete chain of global R&D, global standards, global validation, and global certification. Thailand and South Africa launched first, then returned to the domestic market for sale. It will subsequently land in Europe, Australia/New Zealand, Southeast Asia, and other regions, with plans to cover over a hundred countries and regions by year-end. This path of overseas trial first, then domestic landing is rare in the domestic brand pure electric vehicle segment.
Speed is the main theme of the industry today. Many new car development cycles are compressed to 12-18 months, with some extreme durability and environmental validation projects simplified, leaving a large amount of unknowns to the market and users. Fengyun T7 chose to go the opposite way: 2 years of product planning, 3 years of complete R&D, traveling to 21 countries to complete field validation, accumulating 1.45 million kilometers of durability validation. Extreme conditions including Middle East high temperatures, Siberian extreme cold, German unlimited speed highways, high plateaus, water wading, and falling into water were all fully completed. 'A global car cannot be fast' is the launch event slogan. It is not a marketing gimmick but a necessity for manufacturing global products. A vehicle model that needs to adapt to different continents across the globe cannot take shortcuts by simplifying tests.
Placed in the 100,000 RMB home pure electric segment, which has the fiercest competition, the implementation of this set of global standards is highly significant for industry reference. Competition in the home market has fallen into a parameter game, competing on range numbers and piling up hardware lists, but often ignoring reliability in real environments and full-scenario safety redundancy. Fengyun T7 directly translates the entire system designed for strict overseas regulations to domestic products, leveling the hard power. This is raising standards, not reducing specifications.
Taking the battery as an example, the 6D locking structure combined with 31 layers of protection has burn and extrusion test indicators 2 times higher than national standards. The -40°C to +60°C wide temperature range battery, paired with heat pump + high-voltage PTC dual-source air conditioning, solves the most troublesome pain point of electric vehicles: low-temperature attenuation. Looking at the body, it adopts a Five-Horizontal-Nine-Vertical Dragon-style body, with 80% high-strength steel, 18.84% hot-formed steel. It features a dual-frame subframe and pack anti-collision beam, rare in the same class, assisted by a 1088mm through-type roll-formed threshold reinforcement beam. It effectively resists lateral intrusion during side collisions. The 100,000 RMB class comes equipped with 9 airbags, and the water submersion escape window capability reaches three times the European standard.
At the press conference, chassis expert Ma Wenke from Alfa Romeo, along with Antonio, Sardin, and a group of world-class automotive R&D experts who previously worked at BBA, took the stage to interpret the product. As Ma Wenke stated: 'Handling is not mysticism; base materials are the underlying color of handling'. A group of international senior engineers deeply participated in the polishing of a 100,000 RMB class home car, which is rare in China. They proved with practice that true quality relies on system capability, not the car badge definition. The chassis underwent joint tuning by a global team of hundreds, with a 50.8:49.2 golden axle load ratio, balancing home comfort and high-speed stability. These configurations are not for PPT display at the press conference, but to meet the hard requirements of multi-country 5-star safety standards.
Intelligence also reflects the thinking of global products. The Qualcomm 8775 Cockpit-Driving Integrated Chip, Doubao Large Model onboard, simultaneously compatible with CarPlay, HiCar, Carlink multi-ecosystem mobile interconnection. Cross-layer memory parking, leave-car parking, and other intelligent driving functions consider domestic complex underground garage scenes, while also reserving space for overseas localization adaptation. Seven scene modes including Nap, Baby, Pet, and Camping cover the common mobility needs of global family users.
Such a set of whole vehicle capabilities validated globally eventually sees the domestic starting price drop to 97,900, and as low as 94,900 after trade-in. Such a pricing strategy means globalization does not equal high price; products with global standards can also sink into the mainstream home market. At the same time, Chery put forward a highly bold fallback policy: battery pack failure thermal runaway replaces the new car at original price, intelligent driving system accidents compensated up to 5 million, lifetime warranty for the first owner on the whole vehicle and three-electric systems. This confidence comes from reliability data accumulated from massive global testing.
Reviewing the journey of Chinese car exports, from early simple commodity output to now competing on R&D systems, validation capabilities, and standard discursive power. In the past, what we were used to seeing was development for the Chinese market, and selling to overseas markets as an afterthought. Fengyun T7 represents a new direction, using a set of unified high standards to serve domestic families and global consumers simultaneously.
Of course, we also need to see that system globalization is definitely not accomplished by just one car. It is worth knowing that Chery has ranked first in Chinese brand passenger car exports for 23 consecutive years, with global users breaking through 20 million, and products sold to 130+ overseas markets. Fengyun T7 is a powerful practice of Chery's globalization capability penetrating the home market.
When the industry is keen on chasing short-term product iterations and sales numbers, Fengyun T7 poses a proposition to the entire industry: Under the wave of electrification, what is the true product competitiveness? Is it eye-catching ledger parameters, or the whole vehicle strength that has undergone thousand times of hammering and refining, capable of running stably and reliably whether in domestic cities, or Siberia, or the Middle East.
At the press conference venue, Wu Kequn, as the Happiness Experience Officer and No. 001 owner, said: 'Peace of mind is the confidence of happiness.' The slogan 'Steady Happiness' is not just an emotional card aimed at family users, but behind it is a long-termist car-making choice. For the Chinese automotive industry to truly achieve a leap from scale to value, it needs more products like this that put standards first and validation before launch. The appearance of Fengyun T7 might be just the beginning.
