August 12, Chery Fengyun T7 officially launched pre-sale. Price range is 109,900 Yuan to 129,900 Yuan, three trims, all series 600 km range. Launch theme is "Slow work makes a good car, long wait" — in this "Deliver upon launch, iterate upon delivery" industry rhythm, Chery shouted a counter-trend slogan.

Slowness is Chery's keyword these years. Others release a new car in 12 months, Fengyun T7 took 2 years planning, 3 years R&D. In today's market competition, this cycle almost seems "out of sync". But it is precisely this 5-year slowness that allowed this car to differentiate in many dimensions.

First, the origin. Fengyun T7 is not a car built well in China and then figuring out how to sell abroad. Its overseas version is called Lepas L6, pre-sale started in South Africa, launched in Thailand on July 24, next August Indonesia, September EU, October Australia & New Zealand and UK. Subject to global market testing first, then land domestic sales — this "reverse input" product rhythm is not common among local car companies. Chery's 23 years of global technology accumulation and the foundation of consecutive 23 years as number one in Chinese brand passenger car exports, is all bet on this car.

Next, the standard. Fengyun T7 benchmarks the 2026 version E-NCAP 5-star safety standard. The 2026 version E-NCAP breaks safety down into four pillars: Safe Driving, Collision Avoidance, Collision Protection, and Post-Crash Safety. If any item has a weakness, the 5-star rating is lost. Fengyun T7 targeted this standard from the R&D phase and also achieved the highest Functional Safety ASILD level. 80% high-strength steel in the body, 18.84% hot-formed steel, 9 airbags, 6 front crash load paths, 9 side crash load paths. 81 dedicated durability vehicles underwent synchronized road testing, with the whole vehicle cumulative testing exceeding 6 million km.

Behind these numbers lies a simple logic: A car that must simultaneously meet regulatory standards, climate conditions, road characteristics, and usage habits of so many countries and regions such as Europe, Australia & New Zealand, Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Latin America is destined to have a long R&D cycle. Chery chose not to rush.

At the product level, Fengyun T7 took "equal rights across all trims" to the extreme. All trims come standard with a 65.05kWh Rhino Battery, CLTC range 600km, tested over 667km. No distinction between high or low trim levels, no need to pay extra for a larger battery pack. For users in the 100,000 Yuan pure electric SUV class who fear most is spending money to only get 400km range, Fengyun T7 directly cured this concern. Fast charging from 30% to 80% takes only 20 minutes. Full-domain integrated thermal management operates stably from -30°C to 55°C.

At the intelligent driving level it's even more interesting. All trims equipped with the Falcon 500 ADAS system, featuring 22 high-precision sensors: 3 mmWave radars, 7 cameras, 12 ultrasonic radars. Most noteworthy is the multi-story memory parking — with no floor limit, supports up to 2km memory parking. Over 300 full-scenario automated parking, including dead-end roads, irregular parking spaces, and one-key trace reverse, all supported. This configuration is usually exclusive to high-end EVs above the 200,000 Yuan level. Fengyun T7 brings it down to the 100,000 Yuan class.

Regarding warranties, Chery implemented two "safety nets" — Power Battery Safety Guarantee: Thermal runaway caused by battery internal issues, compensate with a new car of the same model. Assisted Driving Guarantee: Within one year of purchase, accidents caused by the intelligent driving system in parking or intelligent pilot scenarios, compensate up to 5 million. Daring to make such promises indicates true confidence in their technology. The whole vehicle lifetime warranty includes the Three-Electric systems, and 666 Yuan lifetime basic maintenance. This combination of measures basically plugs all concerns from purchasing to using the vehicle.

Of course, this car is not without controversy. 178kW rear-mounted motor, 275N·m, parameters not overly powerful but sufficient for home use. Rear-wheel-drive layout is not common in this price range. The chassis was handled by a team led by a former Maserati chassis tuning expert. However, Fengyun T7 lacks LiDAR, so don't expect urban NOA. Body dimensions 4570×1852×1694mm, wheelbase 2700mm — slightly smaller than Deepal S05 and Galaxy E5, taking an approachable route. Regarding competitors, Deepal S05 has market reputation, while Changan Qiyuan Q05 is more aggressive on intelligent driving configuration. Fengyun T7's differentiation lies in the all-series 600km range at no extra price and the quality endorsement of a global model.

Back to the matter of "slowness". In the current era of the pure electric track running faster and faster, Chery, a car company nicknamed the "honest engineering nerd", chose to tell the market with one car: Some things cannot be rushed, some roads cannot be bypassed. The 109,900 Yuan starting price is already fierce, and pre-sale prices usually still have room to drop. Whose cake can Fengyun T7 steal? Most likely the potential customers for the mid-low trims of the Yuan PLUS and the range-sensitive users of the Deepal S05.

Global cars cannot be rushed. But the deliberate Fengyun T7 might truly keep competitors up at night.
