[CNMO Tech News] August 10, market research firm SNE Research data shows that in the first half of this year, global deliveries of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles outside the Chinese market reached 4.598 million units, a year-on-year increase of 30.3%. Chinese automakers such as BYD, Geely, and Chery recorded high growth rates in overseas markets, further expanding their market share.

In terms of corporate performance, Volkswagen Group maintained the top spot with 635,000 deliveries, up 7.6% year-on-year, but the growth rate was significantly lower than the average for non-Chinese markets, with market share declining from 16.7% to 13.8%, down by 2.9 percentage points. Tesla ranked second with 599,000 deliveries, up 31% year-on-year, maintaining a market share of 13%.

BYD ranked third with 497,000 deliveries, up significantly 81.4% year-on-year, with market share increasing from 7.8% to 10.8%. Its sales network in Europe, Southeast Asia, Latin America, and other regions expanded rapidly, coupled with localized production and product lineup expansion, becoming the main driver of growth. Hyundai Motor Group delivered 370,000 units, up 25.9% year-on-year, but growth was lower than the market average, with market share dropping slightly from 8.3% to 8%.

Geely delivered 296,000 units, up 47% year-on-year; Chery delivered 201,000 units, with a year-on-year increase reaching 350.7%. Toyota delivered 184,000 units, up 44% year-on-year, entering the top ten. BMW delivered 268,000 units, growing by only 3.8%; Stellantis delivered 246,000 units, down 5.7% year-on-year. Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance delivered 205,000 units, up 20.6% year-on-year, also below the market average.

In terms of regional performance, Europe became the largest demand source for non-Chinese markets with 2.528 million deliveries, up 29% year-on-year. Market share dipped slightly from 55.5% to 55%, but absolute sales grew significantly. Stricter emission regulations, new car launches, and incentive measures supported demand. Non-Chinese Asian markets delivered 933,000 units, surging 75.8% year-on-year, with market share rising from 15% to 20.3%. Sales of electric passenger cars in India and Thailand improved significantly in the first half of the year, with new car launches, promotion policies, and local production expansion playing a combined role.

The North American market delivered 681,000 units, down 20.5% year-on-year, with market share dropping from 24.3% to 14.8%, down by 9.5 percentage points. Other regions delivered 456,000 units, surging 150.6% year-on-year, with market share expanding from 5.2% to 9.9%, providing additional momentum for growth in non-Chinese markets.
